If you are looking for a picturesque seaside Scottish town then look no further than at Oban. It’s the kind of place that you can explore in a day and it is completely walkable. After our arrival we cracked right into the sightseeing with a stroll, past the war memorial, to the Dunollie Museum, Castle and grounds. If you don’t want to pay to go in you can have a look from the outside and read the informative boards that you come across on the walk.

There are a few coffee shops in town to sit down at and get rested and watered, followed by a wander around the stores. The Oban Chocolate Company is a good place to pop into as well as the Oban Distillery to enjoy some delicious Scottish single malt.

The highlight of our trip to Oban was wondering around the waterfront and enjoying some incredible seafood at the Oban Seafood Hut (Green Shack). I am not exaggerating when I proclaim that this was some of the best seafood we have ever had. Get one of the platters to share (making sure to add some oysters) and you will not be disappointed. I’m talking mussels, herring, crab, shrimp, salmon and more. It is truly mouth watering and not over hyped (remember – cash only).

Overall our time in Oban was brief, delicious and surprisingly enjoyable. We loved the lay-backed vibe of the place and as you can obviously tell…the seafood!
